My First Riding Lesson

SISSY THE PONY
Today we had our first riding lesson around 9:30am. This is the second time JT has been on a horse but this was different b/c he was going to learn to ride and control the horse by himself. We both had a lesson - as I don't know much about horses myself other than that they are big beautiful creatures. We first learned how to go out to the pasture and put a lead rope on Sissy and then we walked her back to the barn brushed her down and learned how to put the saddle and reigns on her.
Sissy is a pony that belongs to our neighbor/stable owner, Deborah, and she is a "school horse." Basically it means that Sissy has been used for lots of lessons over the years and she is as gentle and sweet and easy as they come. She pretty much did all the leading around - JT just held on and let Sissy do her thing.
JT really seemed to like it and was actually starting to learn how to manipulate the reigns pretty good. A few times he asked to get off b/c he got a little scared but mostly he had a really nice ride. We are planning to take at least one lesson a week - so far so good. I'll keep the blog updated w/photo progress on his riding skills as the weeks go on.
Peace Out for now,
L
