My Boys

Snipps & Snails and
Puppy Dogs Tails......

That's what little boys
are made of!

These are my kiddos. The one in the blue is JT and the one on the right in the orange shirt is JW. For those of ya'll that know me, you know their full names. Just trying to protect them in this day and age of all the internet craziness.
JT is 3 and JW just turned 1. They are quite possibly the sweetest things on earth! At least most days - there is some of their devious father in both of them - especially JT. From all the stories I' ve heard from my MIL about my husband I think we are "in for it" when the teen years hit. Guess I'll just enjoy this toddler time and do a lot of praying about the future! Ha!
Every day I cherish the hugs and kisses and holding my hand and wanting to snuggle b/c I know it won't last forever. I take lots and lots of pictures and probably not near enough video trying to document and remember each sweet little moment or event. I scrapbook and so both boys will have a legacy and vivid reminder to pass on when they have kids of their own someday.
I have lots of hopes and dreams for both of them but for now I just get a kick out of em each day and wish only lots of love and the very best for them.

Stupid Blog is driving me nuts!

Okay this blog is making me nuts! Twice now when I've written a nice long thought out post it only publishs half of what I've written! That's what happened here with the info about Caesar and Cuba - sorry folks. Will have to fool with it again tomorrow when I've got more time! ARGGG!!!!!!!!!!

Boxers are the Best!

Say Hello to Caesar and Cuba
Boxer Rule! (everything else is just a "dog")
Caesar and Cuba are my Boxer babies! Caesar is 6 and Cuba is, well we don't know for sure, but we guess about 8 years old.
I first heard and learned about Boxers from my father. We "D" and I were engaged we decided to get a dog since we'd bought a house and had a yard. I remembered how much my father loved his Boxer Zip. Zipper was from one of the original German lines of Boxers brought to the states in the 50's. Zip had a pedigree but was not a show dog but rather my dad's best friend and constant companion. "D" and I started researching Boxers on the internet and pretty much decided that this was "the dog" for us. Little did we know how deeply we would come to love this breed!
Caesar came into our life as a puppy we purchased him and brought him home at 5 weeks old (much too early in my opinion but....) and he has been my shadow ever since. A year later we came to the realization that rescue groups exsist - did a little research- and then adopted Cuba from BoxAR Rescue.
When we adopted Cuba we got the best dog there is! Since the day she came into our lives she has never had an accident in the house, chewed up anything, and is very well behaved.
If you or anyone you know is interested in adding a dog to their lives please consider adopting a rescue animal. There is a rescue group for nearly every breed of dog in every state. Just check out Petfinder for information by typing in the breed you are interested in along w/your zip code to see what animals are available in your area. www.petfinder.com
Because of my intense love for Boxers I eventually found my way into becoming an active member and volunteer for BoxAR Rescue. Our group rescues Boxers from shelters in our area as well as other situations. We have them vetted, give em some TLC, and find them new homes. Often times these dogs have been neglected, abused, or are just given up for reasons beyond their control. Animals don't have a voice and can't fight back for themselves so I help in my own little way to give them a chance at a new life. If you are interested in learning more about BoxAR please check out our website. http://www.boxarrescue.rescuegroups.org/

HELLO KITTY!

MEET CALLAWAY!
(aka: little bitty, kitty kitty, itty bitty, and sometimes, shitty kitty)

I know, she is weird looking, no jokes, please! She is a Cornish Rex cat,and she is 7 years old - she was the first animal to come into my life as an adult. C-Rex cats originated from a mutation of barn cats in Cornwall, England. They have long legs to help w/mousing in barns w/lots of hay, and they have soft short wavy fur. The waves are called "marcels" (mar-cells) and the super soft hair she has is called guard hairs. All cats actually have guard hairs but you never see them or feel them b/c they are so close to the skin.
Hubby "D" ,and I bought Callaway, after doing a lot of research, (before we knew about rescue) as a 5 month old kitten from a wonderful breeder in CA. Cal actually flew all the way from CA to AR in an airplane and we had to go to the airport to pick her up. We actually were so excited to be finally going to get her that "D" was speeding to the airport and we got pulled over - you should have seen the look and the laugh we got from the cop when we told him who we were going to pick up and why we were in such a hurry. I think he let us go b/c he knew no one could ever make up such a silly story! When we got her home and first got her out of her crate I cried and told "D" - "oh no, we bought an ugly cat!" But then Callaway came up to me meowing and head butted me and and loved all over me and I was "done." She is the now the Queen of the house and we love her!
If you'd like to see more cats like Callaway, that are available for rescue just click on this link.

Neighhhhh!!!!

Hello Horses!

Here are a few shots of some of the beautiful creatures that live right beside me. Some days I can't believe what a beautiful place I get to live in and admire these horses each day. My neighbor's horse, Hershey, just had a new philly this week - her name is Annie, and she was born on Easter Sunday. She is such a sweet little thing. I'm hoping to get some photos this weekend of her to post. We don't actually own any horses - we just get the beauty of them without all the work (ie feeding, stable mucking, etc...).
We love to go feed carrots and apples each day and occasionally we ride.
It really is just a little piece of heaven.

Introducing......L

Hi there, it's L!
Most everyone I know has a blog so I thought, what the hell. I mean I've got SO much free time on my hands, right? (Anyone who knows me personally is laughing at this point!)
So here I am a mom of two small kids, homemaker, gardener, scrapbooker, animal rescuer(Boxers only), and I also enjoy cooking and photography. You'll get to see lots of pictures - I love to take pictures!
I worked at a very large bank for 10 years but left it all for my two kiddos who are both sweeties but, at times, little devils. If anyone tells you that staying home is "just the greatest thing ever!" don't believe the hype. Most days it's not bad but there are days ....if you've got kids you know THOSE days.
I live on about 2 acres, kinda in the country (WalMart is only about 4 min away, though!) and have horses on all sides of my house. I really enjoy the quiet life out here away from the "burbs" - it has been a nice change.
Hubby is in the car business and loves it -we've been married for 6 years this May and have been together for nearly 11 years.
My life is not too exciting, but at least maybe you can stay updated on what' s going on with me/us via this blog. If nothing else you might learn something new about me. Read On!
